Curriculum and Standards Alignment

America SCORES Chicago's evidence-based soccer, poetry, and service-learning curricula is used in 12 other cities nationally. Our sports-based youth development curricula incorporates social justice, trauma-informed and healing-centered practices, and positive youth development principles. Curricula follows a developmentally-appropriate scope and sequence is aligned with national and state English Language Arts (ELA), Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), National Health Education (NHES) and Teaching Tolerance's Social Justice standards

K-2nd Grade, Junior SCORES

6th-8th Grade, Middle School

  • Soccer - Fundamentals of the sport, including skills, positions, tactics, and rules of play. Sessions and activities will also incorporate health and wellness and SEL.

  • Poetry - Students will learn about fundamental poetic devices and language, as well as how poetry and hip hop/music are connected. Activities will support the development and strengthening of reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. Sessions will incorporate SEL and social justice principles.

3rd-5th Grade, Elementary
